 Train crash claims 50 lives in Taiwan, authorities question owner of unmanned truck

Taiwan's government prosecutors have demanded the arrest of a construction engineer in a train accident in a tunnel in the city of Hualien. But a court in the country granted him bail. They claimed that the accident happened due to the lorry used in the construction. At least 50 people have been killed in the worst train crash in 40 years in Taiwan on Friday. ( Taiwan Breaking News )

The train was going from Taipei to Taitung with many tourists and long vacationers. On the way, it derailed in a tunnel near the Hualien area. There were at least 500 passengers on the train. As the train was full, many passengers were standing inside. They fell during the accident. On Saturday, rescuers recovered the bogies in the back of the train. They are almost intact as they are outside the tunnel, officials said. The bogies inside the tunnel were severely damaged. ( train crash footage )

Many people came out of the bogies behind the train after the accident. About 100 people were rescued from the four bogies. The accident caused many casualties in the four twisted carriages and many were trapped inside the tunnel. According to the local media, the driver of the train also lost his life in the accident. Meanwhile, President Xi Jinping visited the site of the accident.
