599 knives have been seized from two madrasas in Lalbagh and Chawkbazar of Bangladesh
Police raided two madrasas in Lalbagh and Chawkbazar, the capital of Bangladesh, and seized 590 knives. Police say they seized knives that were used by madrasa authorities for animal sacrifices during Eid. In the ongoing unrest, the knives have been confiscated so that no one can use them for violence. A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Chawkbazar Zone police raided Jamia Islamia Islambagh in Chawkbazar and Jamia Qurania Arabia Madrasa in Lalabagh on Thursday (April 1st) afternoon. Police seized 185 knives from Jamia Islamia Islambagh Madrasa and 415 knives from Jamia Qurania Arabia. (BBC News)
Police said they conducted a search with the help of detectives based on information that the madrassa contained a large number of knives. Madrasa authorities have provided all kinds of assistance in the search. Knives are used for sacrifice during Eid. The knives have been taken into custody. Will be refunded again if required during Eid. In the ongoing unrest, knives have been confiscated to prevent them from being used in violence. ( today news headlines )
