The countries that need to fast the most time

Birmingham Mosque, UK.

10-21 hours of fasting on average: From April 13, the fast of the holy month of Ramadan will begin in many countries of the world, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, subject to the sighting of the moon. Muslims from any part of the world will observe fasting at this time from sunrise to sunset. Depending on the location, devout Muslims from different countries will fast for 10 to 21 hours.

Ramadan on the same day after 33 years: The holy month of Ramadan comes forward 10 to 12 days every year. This is because according to the Hijri calendar, the Islamic calendar begins with the sighting of the moon, which lasts from 29 to 30 days. Therefore, after the next 33 years, that is, in 2054, the month of Ramadan will start again on 13 April.

Time changes in the position of the sun: The position of the sun varies from country to country during the day. Therefore, Muslims living in countries like Chile and New Zealand in the southernmost part of the world will fast for 11 hours. Meanwhile, Muslims in northern Iceland will fast for 16 hours or more.

Countries with the longest fast: Muslims in Greenland will have the longest fast this year. They will fast for 19 hours and 56 minutes. This is followed by Iceland (19 hours 56 minutes), Finland (19 hours 9 minutes), Sweden (18 hours 56 minutes), and Scotland Muslims (18 hours 36 minutes).

Countries with the shortest fasting time: Muslims in New Zealand (11 hours and 20 minutes), Chile (11 hours and 30 minutes), Australia and Uruguay (11 hours and 48 minutes), and South Africa (11 hours and 52 minutes) fast the least.

The table shows the time of Ramadan in different countries of the world.

Fasting in countries where the sun does not set: As the northernmost country in the world, the sun does not set in many countries. There will be no sunset from April 20 to August 22 in Longyearbyen and Norway. In these cases, the fatwa of Islamic scholars is to follow the time of the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia or the time of the nearest Muslim country.

During the year, the time of Ramadan in the Northern Hemisphere decreases. The time of fasting in this place will continue to decrease till 2032. In that year, the month of Ramadan will fall completely in winter. And then that time will be the shortest time of the year. Then again the time of Ramadan will continue to increase and will come in the time of summer. That time will be the longest time of the year.
